1. High-Altitude Dispatch & Seasonal Transit Pathways
All our authentic, GI-tagged Shingskos creations are curated, hand-carved, and dispatch-prepped directly at our permanent facility in Leh, Ladakh (Elevation: 3,500 meters). Due to the extreme geography of the trans-Himalayan region, our logistics operations are split into seasonal routes:
- Summer Season (May – October): We utilize both the Srinagar-Leh Highway (via Kargil and the Zoji La Pass) and the Leh-Manali Highway (crossing the Baralacha La and Taglang La passes). Road transit offers a smooth, cost-efficient path to mainland hubs like New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
- Winter Season (November – April): Due to heavy snowfall closing the mountain passes, all major road transport is blocked. During this time, we route packages via premium air freight from Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) in Leh to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi, continuing overland to the final address.
2. Premium Crate Packaging & Climate Curing Protocols
High-altitude dry climates naturally cure wood to a very low moisture percentage. When these timbers travel to coastal regions (such as Mumbai, Goa, California, or London) with high ambient humidity, they experience minor expansion. We counteract this using standard artisanal preventative treatments:
- Structural Dryness: The local Willow (Malchang) and Walnut wood are dried for at least 18 months before carving.
- Moisture Insulation: Finished woodcarvings are sealed with moisture-resistant natural varnishes and wrapped inside heavy-duty polythene membranes.
- White-Glove Wooden Crating: Custom birch plywood crates are built specifically for the measurements of each piece, featuring internal styrofoam dampening pads to prevent any shift or impact during transit.
3. Returns, Modifications & Damage Coverage
Because all woodworks are carved explicitly to order, we implement standard strict luxury art commerce guidelines:
- No Standard Returns: We do not accept returns or refunds based on aesthetic preference. Variations in wood grain patterns, mineral pigment depths, and small micro-texture differences are natural traits of handcarved trans-Himalayan craft.
- Full Shipping Insurance: Every high-value dispatch (such as architectural wall friezes or elaborate Choktse tables) is shipped fully insured.
- Transit Damage Guarantee: In the rare event that a package shows signs of severe external damage, document the box with high-resolution photographs before unboxing. Contact us via WhatsApp within 24 hours with photos/videos of the package and the affected carving, and we will initiate transit claims and organize priority repair or replacement at no extra charge.
